Remember the difficulty I had illustrating messy hair and fur?

Well, this was the moment the teacher wanted to push beyond the limit.

"The next step is to draw a face in half profile. And it's going to be this one."

I remember looking at the reference as if I were seeing a drawing that was impossible to make. What scared me most wasn't even the face and its structure. It was the hair.

It sounds a bit cliché to say this after so many pages, but this one...

The proportion, the size, the curves, and the feeling of wind hitting the strands...

This one was a doozy.

... But I'm happy with the result. Not only with the result, but with how good it was to face the challenge and how it helped me in future drawings. It was practically an exercise.

Drawing 17: Wind Hair

Drawing time - 2h30
Reference - Exercise sheet from the drawing classes

You may have noticed, but it was from this point on that I started writing the time spent on the sheet. Not only for record-keeping, but also as a progress metric. What once, at the start of my classes, took ages to make an incomplete egg-head, was now more than enough to draw a half-profile face, with hair under the effect of wind.
